Le courant d'Huchet, véritable cordon ombilical entre l'étang de Léon et l'océan atlantique, constitue un site riche en histoire, en traditions et en habitats pour la faune et la flore. Il est à ce jour le seul cours d'eau du golfe de Gascogne dont l'embouchure n'a pas été stabilisée par travaux d'endiguement.
